How to make Yam Balls (The Nigerian Way)

Hardly, will you find any Nigerian that doesn’t like yam. Hold on, stay with me. I know there are exceptions, of course for some people it may be doctor’s order not to eat yam. Trust me aside that I don’t know of any other reason that would make any one not to like yam.

A lot can be done with yam, from pounded yam to porridge yam, yam and egg sauce, and of course yam balls which is our focus today.

To make yam balls you’d need the following ingredients:

Crushed chilli

Black pepper

Salt

Granulated Garlic

Milk

Note.

Allow all the water to dry off the yam before mashing.

Add the listed spices and gradually add the milk to crei (wet sand) texture before rolling.

TOMATO SAUCE

Tomatoes

Garlic

Onions

Benny seasoning

Stock

Heavy cream

Roast the pepper in the oven for about 20 mins

Blend to purée

Add one cup of chicken stock And one cup of heavy cream

Let it simmer for 10mins.

Enjoy this delicacy for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
