When a typical Nigerian wants to make vegetable salad, prepare yourself for one of the wholehearted, well-loaded vegetable salads you have tasted.

Vegetable salad is a mixtures of raw or cooked vegetables. They are commonly based on tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, beets, mushrooms etc.

Salad greens contain Vitamin A, Vitamin C, beta-carotene, calcium, folate, fiber, and phytonutrients. Leafy vegetables are a good choice for a healthful diet because they do not contain cholesterol and are naturally low in calories and sodium.

The fiber found in vegetables can also aid in blood cholesterol management.

There are a variety of vegetable salad recipes as one can combine vegetables, but the Nigerian vegetable salad is unique, just like you have Israeli salad, Greek salad, etc.

Vegetable salad is in Nigeria specifically dressed in Heinz® salad cream, which is British, and different from mayonnaise. It is tangier, richer and sweeter than mayonnaise.

Usually, this salad is served alongside jollof rice, moi moi, coconut rice etc.
