Amala and Ewedu is a popular Yoruba food from Nigeria that is often eaten together for a full meal.

Amala is made from cassava or yam flour. It has a slightly sour taste, but as you chew, your taste buds adjust to reveal a sweeter flavor.

Ewedu is a nutritious soup made from jute leaves. It’s packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, making it good for your health. When cooked, Ewedu becomes slimy, similar to okra.

People usually serve Ewedu with dishes like amala, eba, pounded yam, or fufu. Eating amala and Ewedu together makes for a satisfying and healthy meal.
