Follow this simple method to make your own CAKE FLOUR from the ALL-PURPOSE (PLAIN) FLOUR you have at home, believe me you’d enjoy every bit of this recipe.
To start with, measure out one cup of all-purpose (Plain) flour and remove two tablespoons from it.
Then add two tablespoons of cornstarch to the flour.
Also sift the flour and cornstarch mixture together at least five times to ensure that the cornstarch is evenly distributed throughout the flour and to create a finer texture similar to cake flour.
Use the homemade cake flour in recipes that call for cake flour.
If your recipe calls for more than 1 cup, repeat the steps above to make more.
Note:
This homemade cake flour substitute may not be exactly the same as store-bought cake flour, but it should be close enough to achieve similar results in your baking.
